The whole plant, including the roots, are used of the sheep sorrel. (I harvested all the roots and some of the plant material right here at Cottonboro Farm.)

Digestive Calm Tea

This tea is excellent as a general digestive tonic to stimulate digestion, but also can help to calm digestive issues due to illness, stress or overindulgence.

Dandelion Root – A gentle diuretic that stimulates bile production. Supports liver and gallbladder and helps remove toxins.

Peppermint Leaf – Settles the stomach, expels gas, antacid, helps nausea and a digestive tonic. Pleasant taste.

Spearmint Leaf – Relaxes the digestive tract and can help reduce pain and discomfort. Pleasant mint taste.

Fennel Seed – Helps the body absorb gas, assists relaxation and soothes inflamed tissues. Adds to the taste of the tea with it’s subtle licorice flavor.

Cat’s Claw – Normalizes the gastrointestinal tract, helpful for ulcers, gastritis, Crohn’s disease and IBS. Helps to reduce inflammation of the bowel and intestines.

Marshmallow Root – Soothes and aids the bowels with it’s mucilage.

Ginger Root – Warms the digestive tract, increases circulation and is known for it’s relief in symptoms of stomachache, gas and nausea. Promotes secretion of bile and gastric fluids. Anti-inflammatory.

Healing Heart Tea

This tea may be (and should be) consumed daily to fully benefit from the properties of the herbs.  This blend contains herbs known to support the cardiovascular system and may help during recovery from a heart attack.  Many of the herbs reduce stress and promote relaxation.

Hawthorn Berry – Believed to uplift both the physical and emotional heart.  May support cardiovascular function and circulation, nourish and protect the heart, tone the heart muscle, improve oxygen uptake by the heart.  Should be taken on a regular basis for best results.

Hibiscus – May lower blood pressure and cholesterol and reduce oxidative stress (smoke inhalation, athletes)

Linden Flower & Leaf – Soothing nervine that relaxes tension and may reduce blood pressure by dilating blood vessels.

Holy Basil – An adaptogenic herb that, when taken regularly, may promote general well-being.  May increase energy and endurance by increasing the body’s ability to efficiently use oxygen.  Promotes good circulation and may help lower blood pressure and cholesterol.  Considered a cardiovascular tonic.

Motherwort – Traditionally used as a tonic for cardiovascular health.  May lower blood pressure, reduce platelet accumulation and slow rapid heartbeat.

Rhodiola – An adaptogenic tonic.  May block the process of cell death after a heart attack and promote growth of new blood vessels.

Astragalus – Adaptogenic herb that may help to balance ion channels that relate to cardiac health and heal tissues following a heart attack.  Helpful in heart disease (polysaccharides & saponins), improving heart function and relieving symptoms.

Turmeric – Very beneficial to digestion and the liver.  Heart specific in that it may prevent cholesterol from oxidizing, thus protecting the blood vessels.  May increase circulation and reduce blood pressure.  Has been recommended following heart surgery.

Heart Happy This tea has been discontinued. It had mostly the same ingredients as the Healing Heart tea; however, some ingredients were contraindicated for those on blood thinners and the cayenne pepper made for a spicy tea, no matter how little I put in. I will leave the ingredients posted so those of you who have purchased can see the differences and similarities.

An excellent daily tea the may help enhance your energy, help you to lose weight and promote healthy bodily function overall.  The hibiscus give it a tart quality that I love.  My personal favorite so far.

Yerba Mate (Organic, Fair Trade) – Dried leaves and stems of South American rainforest holly.  Said to be one of the world’s most effective and healing beverages, with over 196 active compounds.  May promote good cholesterol levels and cardiovascular health, prevent oxidation, and enhance physical endurance and ability to focus.  May help the body to use carbohydrates more effectively, induce the body to burn calories and regulate appetite.
