ELDERBERRY SYRUP

Elderberry has long been hailed for its immune-boosting properties, and it tastes delicious! It can be taken daily, as a preventative, or more often during times of illness. Made with dried organic or responsibly wildcrafted elderberries & elderflowers, ginger root (fresh or dried), Cinnamon, Clove & raw local honey. We have planted elderberry bushes here at Cottonboro Farm, and I am hoping to be able to offer our own FRESH elderberry syrup eventually (Sadly, not happening this year. Berries didn’t develop.)

Elderberry Syrup Kit:

Great to have on hand to make yourself when you feel your immune system needs a boost! Simply add water, simmer, strain and add honey. Comes in a heat-sealed zip-lock bag for air-tight storage. Contains dried elderberries, ginger, cinnamon and clove.

Wild Cherry Cough & Cold Syrup (9/14/23 – New batch ready to go made with FRESH wild cherries picked from our own trees!)

Made with fresh wild cherries from our own trees and dried wild cherry bark. Also includes supportive herbs that may help sooth the respiratory tract, expel mucus & calm spasmodic coughs. Includes ginger root, licorice root, hyssop, slippery elm, marshmallow root, sweet cinnamon, elecampane & horehound. Honey added after infusing. May be used for dry or wet coughs.

ElderCherry Cough & Cold Syrup (Currently Sold Out)

This syrup is the same recipe as the Wild Cherry Cough Syrup (above) I make in the fall, with a couple of exceptions. Since the wild cherries are not available, I use dried elderberry, which give the added benefit of strengthening your immune system, although the taste will be a bit different. I still use the wild cherry bark, which is imperative for helping to ease that cough! I’ve also added linden leaf and flower to the recipe due to it’s ability to help ease sore throats, fevers and respiratory issues. This current batch contains a combination of fresh & dried ginger & raw local and Grade A honey.

FIRE CIDER (Currently Sold Out! Fresh batch coming this fall!)

This infused raw apple cider vinegar tonic has been depended on for ages to provide vitamins and minerals during the winter months or times of weakness and fatigue. I make it in the fall, which is the best time to harvest many of the herbs and dig up the roots needed for the recipe.

Fire Cider is so effective, it created quite a stir for Rosemary Gladstar, to whom the original recipe is attributed to. When a start-up company trademarked the name and began legal proceeding to keep other herbalists from using it, Rosemary fought hard in court for the natural health community’s right to sell the product and use the name. The recipe varies each year depending on what’s available to harvest. The oil is a base of extra virgin olive oil solar infused (double marc) with arnica flowers, then loaded with essential oils specific to easing discomfort and swelling and provide gentle warmth.  The cream adds Coconut Oil and Beeswax for those who prefer a thicker application.

Sunscreen (SOLD OUT!)

This sunscreen provides the needed protection against UVA and UVB sun rays without harsh chemicals, while keeping your skin lubricated and moisturized at the same time. Goes on slightly white, but body heat and sun will melt it into your skin quickly. The non-nano, uncoated zinc oxide, as well as some of the protection values in the oils, will give this sunscreen an SPF of at least 20, and likely higher. Peppermint oil has the added benefit of repelling insects.

Love the Skin You’re In Cream

Thick, soothing cream for dry, itchy skin patches, such as eczema and psoriasis, rashes, sunburn and irritated areas. Great to use as an aftershave cream. This cream may also be used as a face cream for acne or rosacea. (Test a small area first to see how your skin responds to it.) Because this cream is made with babassu oil, it is a good cream for those who are allergic to coconut oil. (If you use a cream and your skin just keeps getting drier and drier – it’s a good sign you are having a reaction to the coconut oil in it! Check the label.)

May be used as an all-purpose salve for burns, cuts, bites, sores, etc. St. John’s Wort is an an excellent herb for use with nerve damage and pain. It’s anti-viral properties make this salve excellent for use during shingles and herpes outbreaks.

I spent a lot of time researching this product, thanks to my battle with those awful cold sores!  Put this on as soon as you feel that first “tingle”.  This has been very helpful to me in keeping a blister from forming.  I have had great feedback on this product by others as well.
